CREMATION
The loss of a pet can be a difficult experience for you and your family. Losing a pet is, for many people, as devastating as losing a very close friend or a family member.
Some pet guardians believe that cremation simplifies the burial of their pet, and some appreciate the environmental responsibility of cremation.
The SPCA de l'Outaouais offers this service through Gateway Pet Memorial. There is no need to make an appointment, you can simply come to the shelter during our opening hours.

There are several options for memorializing your pet.
- Communal cremation
If you choose this option, we will take care of the cremation of your pet. You will not receive ashes after the procedure.
The fee for the communal cremation is based on the weight of your pet.
- Small animals: 20$ +tx
- Cats: 48$ +tx
- Dogs
- 0-25 lbs: $55 +tx
- 26-50 lbs: $65 +tx
- 51-70 lbs: $82 +tx
- 71-90 lbs: $99 +tx
- 91-110 lbs: $114 +tx
- 111-150 lbs: $129 +tx
- Individual cremation
If you choose the individual cremation option, you will receive the ashes in the urn of your choice for an amount of $290 +tx, regardless of the weight of your pet. You will also have access to personalization options (additional fees).You have the choice of the following basic urn models:
