A low-cost adoption day sponsored by Mondou

Published on June 28th 2023

GATINEAU, June 27, 2023 - The shelter is overflowing and the waiting lists are endless! To empty the adoption cages, the SPCA de l'Outaouais (SPCAO) is pleased to announce a reduced-fee adoption day sponsored by Mondou on Saturday, July 8, 2023, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

"The waiting lists to entrust an animal to us are extremely long, whether it's a stray or a surrendered cat. Combined with a slowdown in adoptions, this puts enormous pressure on the shelter team," notes SPCAO General Director Maxime Daigle.

The goal is to enable dozens of cats, dogs and small animals to move on to their new homes for life. Many have been languishing at the shelter for far too long and can't wait to leave!

"It's sad to see animals stay so long. We want to do more, help more, but to do that we have to empty the adoption quickly. The cages will soon be full again, and the next few months will be gruelling," adds Maxime Daigle.

By sponsoring this initiative, Mondou contributes directly to animal welfare in the region. Every animal adopted by the SPCA de l'Outaouais is sterilized, microchipped, vaccinated and dewormed, or has received its first dose of anti-parasite medication. Adopting from us means adopting responsibly and helping to solve the stray cat problem in the Outaouais.

"Mondou is a magnificent Quebec family business that has been supporting animal welfare for many years. Their generosity and support inspire us to go the extra mile to help even more animals," says SPCAO's General Manager.
