MEASURES IN PLACE

Welcome! Here's an overview of our shelter and operations.

Opening hours

Apart from adoptions, most of our services are BY APPOINTMENT ONLY (surrender, stray animals, fostering, medical appointments).  If you are unsure of what to do, please contact us BEFORE coming to the shelter.

The boutique and licenses services continue to operate on a self-service basis during our business hours.

Monday to Friday : 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (adoptions between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.)
Saturday and Sunday : 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

For any other questions or comments, please contact us

Licenses

Located at door #3 of our shelter at 132 rue de Varennes in Gatineau.

Monday to Friday : 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday : 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (door #1)

As of 2020, the medallion you initially receive for your pet is permanent. License fees remain renewable annually, and we strongly recommend that you complete your transaction online our our licence purchase page.

If you have not received communication from us between December and March of each year, it is possible that your file information is no longer current. Please contact us or update your information through our online platform, Emili.

Adoption

To adopt an animal from the shelter, please drop in during our opening hours. You'll find the animals available on our website under "Adoption" (catsdogs or small animals). Please note that the animal you are interested in may no longer be available at the time of your visit!

To maximize your chances of meeting one of our boarders, we invite you to come to the shelter by 3:30 p.m. at the latest.

For dog adoptions, all members of the household must be present at the meeting, including your other dogs if you have any.

If you'd like to adopt an animal from a foster family, please fill out their adoption interest form and we'll contact you to set up an appointment!

Animal admission

Like you, we want to make surrendering pets to the shelter the last resort. If you are unable to keep your pet at home, consider these steps first:

  • Have you attempted to re-home your pet yourself with a friend or family member?
  • Have you tried to re-home your pet yourself through acquaintances or social media?
  • Do you just need some behavioral advice to help you get through a small problem? Our counsellors may be able to support you in this process; contact us.

If none of these avenues are possible, fill out the form and we will contact you to coordinate your pet's entry into the shelter. Please note that depending on the shelter's capacity at any given time, it may take anywhere from a few days to several weeks before we can accept your pet. Please be sure to give us as much information as possible when filling out the form so that we can properly assess your needs and situation.
